Conservation Officials in both Arkansas and Missouri remind people that Christmas Trees can be utilized to help create Fishing Habitat.
In a release from the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, officials remind residents that the AGFC has drop-off locations across the state to let old Christmas trees have a second life as underwater cover. The small spaces and dense cover offered by fresh Christmas trees make excellent nursery habitat for small fish, as well as great places to fish.
The release goes on to say that anglers are welcome to remove trees from drop-off locations to create their own fish attractors. Tying the trees to cinder blocks with parachute cord is a popular option to weight down the trees.
Meanwhile in Missouri, the program is a little different. Taney County Conservation Agent Chris Boyd says during the latest "Conservation Report" Podcast that drop off locations are available in the area then Conservation Agents take them out to the area lakes and place them in spots for fish habitat.
