Motorists should be prepared for overnight roadwork as the 2026 Mill & Overlay Project gets underway this week.

According to a release from the city, crews will begin resurfacing work along Roark Valley Road and on the Shepherd of the Hills Expressway Bridge. The work will take place during overnight hours in an effort to complete roadway improvements while limiting impacts to daytime traffic.

Drivers traveling through the construction areas should expect temporary lane closures and reduced speeds while crews and equipment are present.

Motorists are encouraged to use caution when approaching and traveling through the work zones, allow additional time to reach their destinations and remain alert for workers and changing traffic conditions. Drivers should also follow all posted signs and directions from crews.

The Mill & Overlay Project is part of ongoing efforts to maintain and improve local roadways.

City officials remind drivers to slow down, stay alert and give road crews plenty of room to work safely throughout the project.
