The woman who was accused of attempted murder in Polk County and was eventually caught in Stone County has been formally charged.
According to information posted on the Polk County Sheriff’s Office Website, 39-year-old Leonna Nicole Johnston is facing charges of 1st Degree Domestic Assault and Armed Criminal Action for an incident that took place last week. According to the probable cause statement posted by Ozarks First, the victim, who is a relative of Johnston, was stabbed by her several times near a highway in Brighton. Johnston fled the scene with Polk County Authorities issuing an alert for her.
Johnston was eventually located in Stone County Saturday when a vehicle she was driving ran off the road near Cape Fair after which she fled. Stone County Deputies eventually located Johnston, and she was taken back to Polk County, where she is currently being held without bond.
