The Branson Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce/CVB has a recommendation on the next marketing partnership opportunity with the chamber, city, and Tourism Community Enhancement District.
Chief Marketing and Communications Officer for the chamber Heather Herman made a presentation at this week's Branson Board of Aldermen on the next marketing partnership after the contract for partnership with the Kansas City Chiefs ended in May. Herman says interest has increased for the production of movies and television shows from the Branson Area. Herman cited a recent industry publication that highlighted the strengths of filming in the Show-Me-State due to the diversity of scenery.
Herman believes that the three entities can add their voice to the rest of the state to lobby for an addition to the Tax Credits already available at $16 million annually. Herman said that the credits have already ran out for 2026.
Herman also mentioned the movie recently filmed in the Lakes Region, "An Ozark Mountain Christmas" and the money that was spent by members of the crew while filming the movie.
156 State Representative Brian Seitz was in attendance at the meeting, added his support and recapped his efforts to get the initial Tax Credits passed and how there is a Sunset Clause for the current available credits.
The city will consider a collaboration with the CVB and TCED to promote the area as a filming destination.
