Weather Update: Winter Weather Advisory for Parts of Lakes Region

While forecast snow amounts have increased and advisories issued for parts of the region, travel impacts from the upcoming winter weather are expected to be minimal.

The National Weather Service has issued Winter Weather Advisories for some Lakes Area Counties including Boone, Carroll, Madison, and Newton Counties in Arkansas along with Barry and Stone Counties in Missouri. Also, most of the Springfield area counties including Greene, Christian, Douglas, Lawrence, and Webster are included in the advisory area.

Currently Marion and Searcy Counties in Arkansas along with Ozark and Taney Counties in Missouri are not in the advisory area.

All areas are expected to see snowfall overnight with total accumulations ranging from a trace to up to five inches. Forecasters currently project the heaviest band of snow to be along and just south of Interstate 44. 

Because of recent warm temperatures and temperatures expected to stay at or above freezing for most areas, limited to minor travel impacts in the Lakes Region are expected though heavy snow could limit visibility and cause some slushy driving conditions, especially Monday morning.
