Weather Transition from Wet to Hot

Today is a transition day as the Lakes Region sees the last chance of rain for several days while the area begins to heat up.

The National Weather Service will be ending the Flood Watches in effect for the area through the day as a final round of showers will move through. There is still a Marginal Risk of Severe Storms through the afternoon.

While temperatures will get into the 90s today, the heat begins to go up on Sunday. A Heat Advisory for the Missouri Ozarks begins Sunday afternoon and goes through Thursday. While Arkansas currently is not under an advisory, high temperatures area wide are expected to stay in the 90s with Heat Index Readings above 100.

Area officials are issuing reminders, including drinking plenty of fluids, staying in an air-conditioned room, staying out of the sun, and checking up on relatives and neighbors. If outside, take extra precautions including wearing lightweight and loose fitting clothing and try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening.
