"The Clam Before the Storm" is a book by author Brandy Mincer.
Mincer appeared on KHOZ's "Around The Table" to discuss the book. She said she got a degree in creative writing, but that it wasn't her plan. She said the idea for it came as a result of an error on Facebook. Someone posted about it being "clam" outside rather than calm.
Thus, the clam character, Sam Clam, was born. She described the story as similar to Chicken Little. She didn't intend to publish it.
However, she said her dad and brother died in 2021 due to COVID-19. The book has a message found in the Bible of finding faith and peace. The book is geared toward readers from four to nine years old.
The full interview with Mincer is on the "Around The Table" Facebook Page.
