The annual time for parents to get a break on purchasing items for the upcoming school year is here.
Arkansas and Missouri shoppers will see certain items exempt from local and state sales tax charges this weekend as families prepare to send their children back to school.
In Missouri, the exempt period is underway today and goes through Sunday night. Items such as school supplies, computers, and clothes are exempt from being charged sales tax. This is the second year the exempt weekend will be statewide. Prior to last year, local municipalities were allowed to opt out of the weekend, but a revised state law has taken that option away.
Meanwhile, Arkansas’s tax-exempt weekend begins Saturday and goes through Sunday and applies to similar items that families buy for back to school.
