A man from the Lakes Region is facing charges of Child Enticement in Virginia.
According to a release shared by the Taney County Sheriff's Office, investigators from Warren County, Virginia have been conducting an ongoing operation targeting individuals that are soliciting minors in their region for illicit purposes. One of the undercover officers in Warren County was contacted by 62-year-old Jeffrey Kimmons of Taneyville. According to the release, Kimmons requested photos and lewd content from who he thought was a 15-year-old minor femaie.
After Warren County Investigators confirmed the messages came from Kimmons, the department issued warrants for his arrest and contacted the Taney County Sheriff's office. Last week, Taney County Investigators located Kimmons and placed him under arrest. He is currently being held in the Taney County Jail in Forsyth without bond. An Extradition Hearing is set in Taney County Circuit Court for May 7. Once in Virginia, he is scheduled for a hearing in a Warren County Court on June 4.
Both agencies noted the importance of strong interagency cooperation in protecting in these investigations and a reminder that any suspected illegal activity directed to minors should be reported to local law enforcement.
