Stone County Emergency Services announces in a press release that a project to update 9-1-1 Map Date will begin soon.
The release states that Stone County Emergency Services along with personnel from SDR Inc. will be surveying properties in the coming weeks. The release states residents can expect to see vehicles out doing the survey's with the county's 911 vehicle being a Blue Explorer and marked with their logo while the other vehicle is marked with white signs advising of frequent stops and "911 MAPPING" in red letters. Field work is expected to begin this week and be completed before the end of May.
Stone County is one of many counties around the state benefitting from funding from the $16.6 Million in American Rescue Plan Funding for 9-1-1 improvements in the state distributed by the Missouri 9-1-1 Service Board. In a release from that organization, it lists Stone County as one of 35 counties that will benefit from the funding for Geospatial Information System mapping. Area counties Douglas and Ozark are also among those included. The release also states that Barry and Taney Counties also received grants from this funding cycle.
