For the second time in four days, a fatality traffic crash occurs in Stone County.
The latest accident occurs Monday morning on Highway 13 in Branson West when a vehicle driven by 36-year-old Brent Sexton of Springfield ran off the roadway at a high rate of speed, overturned down an embankment, and caught fire. Sexton, who was not wearing a safety device, was ejected from the vehicle according to the report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Sexton was pronounced dead at the scene by Stone County Assistant Coroner Jerry Jenkins.
The earlier accident occurred near Crane on Friday killing two people.
This is the sixth fatality in traffic crashes worked by Troop D of the Missouri State Highway Patrol in 2023.
