The continuing Snowfall on Thursday kept road crews busy around the region to at least keep major roads partially clear.
“We have 10-12 people (clearing snow) all the time, around the clock,” Branson Public Works director Keith Francis tells Ozarks First. “We have 10 plow trucks, we have a couple of them break down now, but that goes with the territory.”
Francis said that their crews focused on major routes but did plow all the city streets at least once on Thursday. The continuing snow did lead to Branson officials to close City Offices on Friday, the third straight day offices have been closed.
Officials in Taney County also decided to close the Courthouse and County Offices on Friday for similar reasons. Eastern District Commissioner Shelia Wyatt tells Ozarks Dynacom News that Taney County Road Crews could not keep up with the continuing snowfall which was a factor in deciding to close county offices.
Road crews throughout the area faced similar issues. Harrison Public Works Director Wade Phillips, during an interview Thursday morning on Harrison's Original KHOZ, said that conditions stayed pretty much the same throughout the day on Thursday and got to all the city streets at least once. Phillips says crews focused on getting streets treated while the freezing rain and sleet fell on Wednesday to help minimize the ice underneath the snow.
Officials around the region hope that with the end of the snow and sunshine coming into the area today, crews can make progress on getting area highways, roads, and streets cleared.
