While the snowfall that came through the Lakes Region Thursday was expected, the timing and amount caused major issues during the morning hours.
The snow path dipped a little further south than originally forecast putting around an inch of snow on the ground. Coupled with the timing, which occurred as school busses were just starting their routes as well as many others heading out for work, several accidents occurred causing many back-ups.
The Missouri Highway Patrol worked a half dozen accidents in the Lakes Region during this time, including three on Highway 165 west of Hollister while East Highway 76 at Mount Branson as well Highway F near Bull Creek had multiple slide-offs causing traffic back-ups.
Many schools, especially in areas north and east of Branson closed down and several of those schools remain closed today.
Today will be a chilly day though temperatures will rise above freezing this afternoon. Though many roads have been cleared off, many roads could have patches of black ice so drivers are urged to use caution.
