The long period of dry conditions in the Lakes Region will end tonight with a system bringing the chance of strong to severe thunderstorms.
The National Weather Service says some scattered rain is possible today, but the better chance of storms is this evening and overnight. Most of the Lakes Region has a slight risk of severe weather with strong winds the primary threat. Small hail and isolated tornados are also possible.
Ahead of the front, dry and windy conditions continue with burn bans and elevated fire risks still in effect for today. p
Behind the front on Thursday, much cooler temperatures with highs only in the 60s.
