An area near Jasper was evacuated shortly after midnight Tuesday morning after a propane truck overturned.
The Newton County Sheriff's Office tells KTLO that the propane truck overturned on Highway 7 south of Jasper between Gum Springs Road and the Cliff House. Storm Track 360 posted an Evacuation Notice sent by the National Weather Service from Arkansas Emergency Management and the Jasper Fire Department evacuating residents within one half mile of the site of the crash due to the potential of explosion of the material. The crash also shutdown Highway 7 for several hours as emergency personnel cleaned up the site.
The roadway opened up to traffic later in the morning with the cause of the crash still under investigation. The Arkansas Office of Emergency Management released a statement to several media outlets that one person was injured.
