A person residing at the Oak Apartments in Kimberling City is now charged with setting the fire that displaced 19 families.
According to the probable cause statement filed in Stone County Court by the Kimberling City Police Department, 41-year-old Angie Renee Maiwald is facing a felony charge of 1st Degree Arson and several other charges in relation to the fire Saturday morning.
According to the statement, Maiwald and a child residing at the residence left their apartment at which time Maiwald set the fire, she then abandoned the child and fled to a nearby residence where she broke in, was confronted by the homeowner, then fled before being taken into custody. In a subsequent interview with a State Fire Marshall investigator, she admitted to setting the fire.
Maiwald is being held without bond at the Stone County Jail in Galena.
