The food bank that supplies area pantries with food supplies receives help thanks to an annual drive by a company.
Ozarks First reports that 5,300 pounds of chicken were donated to Ozarks Food Harvest as part of Smart Chicken’s 23rd annual Smart Giving Holiday Challenge on Monday.
The company, based in Nebraska, donates 10% of poultry purchased in November at retailers they supply chicken to including Country Mart and Harter House to Ozarks Food Harvest.
Ozarks Food Harvest tells Ozarks First that the donation will help provide around 20,000 meals for families facing hunger in southwest Missouri this holiday season.
