An Ozark County man has been arrested after he “sacrificed” one of his neighbor’s chickens and has also played chicken sounds from a loudspeaker all day.
The Theodosia man, David Roland Stecklein, is facing multiple charges in connection with the incident.
According to the probable cause affidavit from the Ozark County Sheriff’s Office, the victims told deputies Stecklein had killed one of their chickens, hung it from a tree in his front yard and when confronted about it, said it was his “Sacrificing Passover.”
The victims told deputies the chicken was a pet and seeing the chicken displayed in this manner has caused them serious emotional trauma and distress.
They also say Stecklein has previously purchased a loudspeaker and played chicken noises from 6:00AM until 8:00PM.
The victims told deputies they also found chicken carcasses stuffed in their fence after Stecklein threatened to kill the animals.
Stecklein is facing felony charges of stealing and harassment along with misdemeanor charges of animal abuse and property damage.
