A report of a break-in turns into a fatality fire in Berryville Monday.
Berryville Police Chief Robert Bartos tells the Carroll County Times that officers responded to a call about a break-in by an armed individual into a house on North Springfield Street. The woman who lived at the house apparently had a past relationship with the man and ran to a neighbors house to call police. After a brief appearance by the suspect, he went back in the house with the fire starting shortly afterwards. Berryville firefighters eventually contained the fire after which a body was discovered inside.
Bartos told the Times that the body has been sent to the State Crime Lab for identification and the State Fire Marshall is investigating the cause of the fire.
The complete story can be found in the Carroll County Times.
