Municipal Election Recap: Branson Ward 3 Change, Stone County Issues Pass Narrowly

Voters in Stone and Taney County went to the polls to decide on officer holders and ballot issues.

When all the dust settled Tuesday evening, nearly a third of the registered voters turned out in Stone County with several hotly contested races went down to the wire in both counties. 

Among the highlights:

-Challenger Ashley Harkness edged out incumbent Ralph LeBlanc for the Branson Ward 3 Alderman Seat 286-258.

-School Board Races in Branson west to incumbents Sonja Myer and Dustin Price as well as Richard Marks while in Forsyth, incumbents Brenda Persinger and Jayson Fisher won reelection while challenger Jared Layton edged out incumbent Nikki Henson for the third spot.

-Robert Amos was elected to continue filling the unexpired term for Mayor in Merriam Woods.

-Taney County Voters did pass the ballot issue for freezes on certain Property Taxes. 

-With 31.6% of the voters turning out in Stone County, voters narrowly passed the issue to continue Planning and Zoning with 4,121 voting yes and 4,039 voting no. The other issue, allowing the Stone County Ambulance District to collect tax on Online Sales also narrowly passed  3,788 to 3,725.

-Bob Fritz won another term as Kimberling City Mayor fending off challenger Justin Braden. 

-The City of Reeds Spring passed their Public Safety Sales Tax Issue while voters also approve a School Bond and Fire Protection Issue in Hurley.
