An incident last week in Boone County had several agencies respond to rescue a young girl trapped in the water.
The release from the Harmon Fire Department is below:
Chief Lowery reports that on Thursday June 18th, 2026 at approximately 2:26 PM, the Harmon Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to Busch's low water slab on McDonald Road. Dispatch advised that a juvenile had become lodged in a culvert under the slab and was under water. We arrived on scene simultaneously with Boone County Sheriff's Deputies and found that family members had pulled the juvenile from the culvert and were performing CPR. Firefighters and Deputies took over CPR and applied an AED. CPR continued until a shock was delivered via the AED. The juvenile eventually regained a pulse and began breathing. Members continued life saving measures and were joined by the Harrison Fire Department. While providing life saving care to the juvenile, firefighters were also providing patient care to one adult and one other juvenile. They had been injured during the rescue of the first juvenile. Once NARMC EMS arrived, patient care was transferred to them and our department continued to assist. A landing zone was established in a nearby hay field for Air Evac Lifeteam 40 - Harrison, AR. A total of ten Harmon Firefighters responded.
I believe that the quick rescue and quality CPR given by the family then continued by Fire and Law Enforcement was vital in giving this juvenile a fighting chance. I want to commend my members on their display of skills and professionalism. I also want to thank the Boone County Sheriff's Office and the Harrison Fire Department for their assistance and professionalism during this emotionally charged incident. We worked side by side with nothing but the care of this juvenile in mind.
It is not our place to release the identity or status of the victim. Please keep the juvenile, their family, and friends in your thoughts and prayers.
