A pair of accidents worked Sunday by the Missouri State Highway Patrol results in a fatality and a hit and run incident.
The fatality accident happened on Highway 14 in Billings Sunday morning around 10:30 when a vehicle driven by18-year-old Harmony Dailey of Clever went off the roadway after which the driver overcorrected and went across the road and overturned with the driver being ejected from the vehicle. Dailey was pronounced dead at the scene. This is the ninth fatality in traffic crashes worked by Troop D of the Missouri State Highway Patrol in 2022.
Meanwhile earlier in the morning, a Stone County Couple sustained moderate injuries when their car was hit from behind by a vehicle that fled the scene. The accident report indicates the accident occurred just after midnight on Highway 76 in Cape Fair when the car driven by Donnie Batson was struck while at a stop sign. Batson and a passenger in the vehicle, Lorraine Batson, were taken to Cox South Hospital in Springfield for treatment of their injuries.
