March the 1st every year is when thousands of anglers converge at Roaring River State Park and nearby Cassville for the opening of the Catch and Keep Trout Season.
Morgan Williams, Director of the Cassville Chamber of Commerce, said during an interview on KRZK's "Ozarks Now" program, that opening day is a big one in the city, with even school being called off that day and businesses ranging from restaurants to hotels and more staying very busy. Williams also says the park brings in visitors year round as for the past two years, Roaring River has been the most visited state park in Missouri. In 2021, over 1.9 million visitors stopped at Roaring River according to Williams.
Williams also talks about the annual Trout Fest in June which ties into Roaring River as well as other events in Cassville throughout the year.
