Missouri U.S. House Proposed Maps Could Change Representation for Parts of the Lakes Region

While the process of deciding new State House and Senate Districts in Missouri could see some area changes, some residents of the Lakes Region could see a change in their U.S. House Representation.

The Missouri House and Senate Redistricting Committee late last week issued its proposed map that the State Legislature will take up during their upcoming Regular Session.

While much focus has been on the impacts on the St. Louis and Kansas City areas, one change in the proposed map would see over 75% of Taney County move into the 8th Congressional District. Currently, all of Taney County falls into the 7th District that is currently represented by Billy Long. Long will be leaving that seat at the end of the year as he is one of several candidates running for the U.S. Senate.

The map shows only the southwestern corner of Taney County staying in the 7th District, but no specifics on where the exact district line is in relation to Branson.

Eastern Taney County has been a part of the 8th District in the past but was put completely in the 7th District during the last redistricting process in 2011.
