JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Two Missouri lawmakers have pre-filed bills that aim to classify abortion as a murder offense.
Missouri State Sen. Mike Moon, R-Ash Grove, and State Rep. Burt Whaley, R-Clever, have each introduced legislation, and Whaley calling his the “Missouri Prenatal Equal Protection Act.”
The bills come more than a year after Missouri voters passed Amendment 3, adding abortion protections to the state constitution.
If either bill became a law, it could significantly limit the impact of Amendment 3 and allow criminal prosecution of anyone who performs, receives or assists with an abortion.
