ST. LOUIS – If you filled up your gas tanks in Missouri last year and saved your receipts, you may be entitled to a refund.
Missouri drivers now have the opportunity to apply for a partial refund on last year’s gas tax increase. Anyone looking to claim a refund must fill out a 4923-H form.
The Missouri Department of Revenue has opened applications for refunds on last year’s 2.5-cent tax increase per gallon through an online portal. The opportunity could allow people to receive money back on gas purchases from July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2024.
Refund claims can be submitted up until Sept. 30, 2024. Anyone looking to file a claim must also buy gas for vehicles weighing less than 26,000 pounds and use their vehicles for highway use, according to the Missouri DOR application form.
