MISSOURI – Missouri Attorney General has filed a lawsuit against the Planned Parenthood Federation of America, accusing Planned Parenthood of misleading women about the safety of mifepristone, a medication used in abortion procedures.
In the lawsuit, Bailey claims Planned Parenthood is violating Missouri’s consumer protection law through “dishonest advertising.”
Planned Parenthood describes mifepristone as safe and effective, but Bailey’s highlights a small percentage of cases in which patients require emergency care afterward.
According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, mifepristone can cause serious or even fatal infections in rare cases. However, the FDA also notes that U.S. clinical studies have found serious complications in fewer than 0.5% of patients.
