A woman that had been reported missing from Barry County is now reported to have died in a traffic crash last week.
The Barry County Sheriff’s Office had reported 67-year-old Dorothy Lewis of Exeter missing, having last been seen on Thursday. A follow-up report indicates that Lewis died in a single vehicle crash on Friday. p
The Missouri State Highway Patrol online report indicates the accident occurred on a farm road west of Exeter when her vehicle left the roadway, hit some trees then went airborne and overturn. Lewis was pronounced dead at the scene.
This is the 140th fatality in traffic crashes worked by the Missouri State Highway Patrol in 2023.
