A minor earthquake has been reported in northwestern Marion County.
The United States Geological Survey says the magnitude 1.8 quake was recorded 8.3 miles east-northeast of South Lead Hill at 8:17 Friday night. The location is 22 miles west-northwest of Mountain Home, 23.3 miles northeast of Harrison and 29.4 miles east-southeast of Branson.
Experts say normally, earthquakes below magnitude 3 are rarely felt. However, smaller quakes from magnitude 2.0 can be felt by humans if the quake is shallow (few kilometers only) and if they are very close to its epicenter and not disturbed by ambient factors such as noise, wind, vibrations of engines, traffic, etc.
Anyone who felt the quake can let the USGS know on its website.
