A minor earthquake has been reported in southeastern Carroll County.
The United States Geological Survey says the magnitude 2.2 quake was recorded 9.2 miles south-southwest of Alpena Monday morning at 5:18. The location is also 15.7 miles west-southwest of Harrison and 33 miles south-southwest of Branson.
Experts say normally, earthquakes below magnitude 3 are rarely felt. However, smaller quakes from magnitude 2.0 can be felt by humans if the quake is shallow (few kilometers only) and if they are very close to its epicenter and not disturbed by ambient factors such as noise, wind, vibrations of engines, traffic, etc.
Anyone who felt the quake can let the USGS know on its website.
