Governor Mike Parson gave his annual State of the State address on Wednesday.
According to a wrap-up by the Missouri News Network, Parson covered various legislative goals and achievements during his speech including
education reforms, conservative budgeting and infrastructure policy from roads to broadband.
Parson reflected an air of optimism saying to the legislature that they’re not done yet, but they’re getting close.
Parson took much of his speech to reflect on his time in office. This was the last time he would be giving the State of the State as he has reached his term limit.
Meanwhile, Missouri House Democratic Minority Leader Crystal Quade responded to Governor Mike Parson’s State of the State address in a press conference Wednesday.
Quade said Missouri Democrats agree with many of Parson’s initiatives including improving Missourians’ access to childcare, increasing teacher pay and expanding and repairing infrastructure.
However, Quade worries that extremists will prevent legislation on these initiatives from moving, saying that like Republicans in Washington, Republicans in Jefferson City constantly prove incapable of governing.
