An agent for the Missouri Department of Conservation says that low water levels have not deterred people from floating on area rivers and streams.
Dan Akin, one of the MDC's Stone County Agents, says on the latest edition of the "At Your Service" Podcast that people have still be floating the James and other area rivers and streams though they have experienced lower than usual water levels due to the recent lack of rainfall. Akin says that this weekend's rain forecast should help, but it will be a while before levels get back up to normal. Akin did say the current, most of the area lakes do remain at or above normal levels do to the heavy spring rains.
