Man Wanted in Missouri Arrested in Newton County

A man who fled Missouri after failing to register as a Sex Offender is apprehended in Arkansas.

A release from Newton County Sheriff  Glenn Wheeler on February 3rd reported the arrest of 47-year-old Bobby Earl Ramsey, Jr.

Ramsey had been convicted of Child Molestation in the Missouri town of Hartville in Wright County according to court documents in Missouri. Upon his release, he was ordered to report to authorities as a sex offender but failed to do so and eventually left Missouri. 

Wheeler says in his release that a deputy had received information that he had moved into Newton County and had been working in the area for around a year. Deputies eventually located Ramsey at his place of employment and was arrested without incident. Ramsey was found to have a gun in his possession. 

In addition to his outstanding warrants in Missouri, Wheeler says Ramsey is now facing charges of Failure to Reply with Reporting Requirements for Sex Offenders, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Furnishing or Possession Prohibited Articles, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and being a Habitual Offender. Ramsey is currently in the Newton County Jail on a $75,000 Bond.
