An area woman is in the Taney County Jail after an investigation involving several law enforcement agencies and two drug task forces.
According to information released by the Benton County Sheriff's Office, 56-year-old Rhonda Johnson of Rockaway Beach is facing 2nd Degree Drug Trafficking Charges.
On June 7th, the Benton County Sheriff's Department along with the Mid-Missouri Drug Task Force received information in regards to a person who was trafficking large amounts of methamphetamine from southern to mid Missouri. A follow-up to southern Missouri's COMET Drug Task Force reveled that the individual, later reveled to be Johnson, had been under investigation for the past two years.
The post states that with the cooperation of these agencies as well as the Christian and Taney County Sheriff's Departments eventually led to locating and arresting Johnson while she was attempting to ship methamphetamine to Benton County. Later, a search of her residence uncovered around three quarters of a pound of meth.
Johnson is being held without bond in the Taney County Jail facing the trafficking charges with charges also pending in Christian County.
