Cassandra Elledge from Freedom Wings Counseling spoke with “Around The Table” on KHOZ Wednesday to discuss PTSD Awareness Month.
Ellridge is a Seed Digging PLLC and is a Certified Mental Health Integrative Medicine Provider (CMHIMP). “Mental health is also tied to our physical health,” Ellridge said. Ellridge recently got a certification for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). EMDR “takes you back to the trauma” and “helps you to process your trauma.”
Ellridge’s husband is a disabled Veteran. “I have a heart to serve Veterans but also families and children.” She said it can be challenging to understand how PTSD impacts individuals. Ellridge said PTSD can take years to manifest. She said while Veterans can have PTSD, anyone who has experienced trauma, children included, can be affected by it.
