The Ozark Police Department continues their investigation after a high speed pursuit leaves the driver of the pursued vehicle dead.
According to a release from Ozark Police Chief Justin Arnold, just after midnight Monday morning, officers attempted to stop the juvenile operator of a vehicle for impaired driving and several traffic violations on Highway 14 just west of the Highway 65 interchange. After briefly stopping, the vehicle took off westbound at a high rate of speed being pursued by the police officers. According to the preliminary investigation, the driver failed to negotiate a curve on Highway`14 at 32nd Street, left the roadway and struck a utility pole and was declared dead at the scene.
Nixa Police assisted with notifying next of kin with the investigation ongoing in this incident according to the Ozark Police Department release.
