The hottest days this summer are in the forecast for much of the region over the next few days.
Forecasters from the National Weather Service now has the western and central Missouri Lakes Area Counties of Barry, Stone, and Taney under an Excessive Heat Warning beginning today and going through Wednesday evening while Ozark County continues under the Excessive Heat Watch. Meanwhile in Arkansas, the region will be under a Heat Advisory from today.
Forecast highs will be in the mid to upper 90's with Heat Index Readings as high as 115 in some areas.
According to a release from the NWS, extreme heat and humidity will significantly increase the potential for heat related illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities.
