Funding Mechanism for Taney County Sewer Projects Up for Voter Renewal in August

The renewal of the Taney County Sewer Tax will be for many voters, the only issue on the ballot August 3.

The tax, first past in 1993 and then renewed in 2000, is a Sales Tax that is administered by the Taney County Regional Sewer District and has funded many projects over the years and a Master Plan has laid out several more projects in the planning stages.

Brad Allbritton, Administrator for the District during an Ozarks Now interview, states that the goal of the Taney County Commission when proposing the tax was to develop a system to treat waste while protecting the area waterways and funded by the users, both local and visitors.

Jonas Ajres, Director of the Taney County Partnership, also said during the interview that sewer development is important in many areas as the county continues to seek economic development and to answer both employee and housing needs of the region.

With the exception of Merriam Woods Voters, who will also have a temporary Property Tax Increase for Road Improvement to consider, this will be the only ballot issue for Taney County Voters on August 3.
