The City of Forsyth will move forward to ensure all city facilities and parks are compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

During a public meeting on Monday, June 5, city officials discussed the results of a voluntary ADA compliance audit. Forsyth Mayor Missi Hesketh, Alderman Dustin Krob, Alderman Shawn Mathenia and Alderman Scott Novak heard from residents regarding areas of concern.

The audit brought awareness to problems faced by disabled residents. For example, the light switches and soap dispensers are at a height unreachable by a person confined to a wheelchair at Shoals Bend Park facilities and ramps are needed for access. City offices, Shoals Bend and Shadow Rock Park will be the focus of updates to be completed by the City. Items such as Braille signage, spaces for wheelchairs at tables and translators were also brought to the attention of city officials.
