A community in the Ozarks is in the running for Merriest Christmas in the United States in conjunction with the 25th Anniversary of the Hallmark Channel.

Eureka Springs is one of 25 cities up for the honor according to a release on the Eureka Springs Chamber of Commerce Facebook Page. The release says the push to get into the top 25 was a collaborative effort from the chamber as well as the Eureka Springs Christmas Community, the Heart of Eureka Group, and multiple departments within the city.

According to information released on the Hallmark Channel Website, Eureka Springs is described as “a place where the streets are lined with a sense of nostalgia, warmth, and wonder, calling you back to a slower pace,” recognizing the town's unique blend of Victorian charm, cherished traditions, and festive atmosphere.

The winning town will earn more than bragging rights. Hallmark plans to use the selected community as a filming location for an upcoming Hallmark movie. According to the company, finalists were chosen for “bringing the spirit of Christmas to life through cherished traditions, joyful celebrations, and a deep sense of community.”

Among the other states represented in the contest is Missouri, where the City of Parkville near Kansas City is one of the finalist. Other states represented include Illinois, Kentucky, Nebraska, Tennessee, and Texas.

Public voting is now open on Hallmark's Merriest Christmas Town contest website and continues through September 4.
