Dye Testing Sewers Starts Monday

A Branson government press release states that Branson Utilities Department personnel will engage in routine sewer line dye testing on April 25.

Some department personnel will go to each property in the Hiawatha Heights. The press release states that the dye testing begins on Stanley Avenue toward the Cliff Drive area.

“Field crews will be wearing high-visibility vests, City of Branson Utilities shirts and will have photo identification cards. If the property has an outside cleanout, the inspector will not need to enter the residence,” the release states.

In the absence of a visible outside cleanout on the property, the release also states that inspectors will need access to the interior sewer line for dye placement. Additionally, utilities personnel will make attempts to contact residents via phone in order to access the interior sewer lines and place the dye.

“This testing will occur over the next two to three months and will happen Monday through Fridays between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.” Requests for additional information as well as any questions can be directed to the Branson Utilities Department at (417) 243-2731.

According to the press release, dye testing involves “placing a non-staining water soluble dye in the drain or cleanout of your property and flushing it with water” after which the sewer infrastructure is examined for traces of dyed water.
