Dry Conditions Returning to the Lakes Region

Decreasing amounts of rainfall over the last month have led to an increase in dry conditions.

For the first time in a month, the majority of the Lakes Region is showing a level of drought according to the latest map from the U.S. Drought Monitor. all of the Lakes Region Counties: Barry, Ozark, Stone and Taney in Missouri along with Boone, Carroll, Marion, Newton, and Searcy Counties in Arkansas are at an Abnormally Dry Level. 

While Abnormally Dry is the lowest level of drought on the monitor's scale, it does mean that signs are beginning to show that dryer conditions may be ahead. Water levels are declining with crop and lawn conditions becoming stressed according to the U.S. Drought Monitor Criteria list. 

While scattered showers are in the forecast for today, an overall dry period is expected to remain in place in the Lakes Region over the next seven days.
