Drought Levels Low in Missouri, High in Arkansas

The State Line continues to double as the dividing line between levels of drought in Arkansas and Missouri.

The Latest Map from the U.S. Drought Monitor shows Arkansas in areas of Moderate to Exceptional Drought. The highest levels currently are in central Marion and Searcy Counties where water levels are extremely low and early season crops are struggling. Currently, areas around Harrison remain in Extreme Drought. 

The recent rainfall has had much more benefit in Missouri, where the Lakes Region is Abnormally Dry, the lowest level on the Drought Monitor Scale. While the rain has been beneficial, officials still urge caution when outdoor burning, especially on windy days. 

Areas just to the north of the Lakes Region currently are not listed at any drought level. 

After rain moves through the region today, forecasters call for more rain chances Sunday into Monday.
