The latest update released Thursday from the U.S. Drought Monitor indicates dry conditions are persisting through most of the Lakes Region.
The map for Missouri indicates that the majority of the Lakes Region is at a Moderate Drought Level while the western Missouri Lake Region in Barry County as well as most of the northern Arkansas part of the Lakes Region continue to be at a Severe Drought Level. While the growing season is winding down, lack of rainfall is still impacting the fall crops and water levels are low in many areas.
Some rain is forecast for much of the Lakes Region Saturday night into Sunday with cooler temperatures leading to a possible frost during the overnight hours next week.
