Missouri State Representative Tricia Derges of Nixa has reached a settlement on some of the charges against her involving her medical practice.
The agreement reported by the Missouri Independent and later the Associated Press was with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services on the charges of illegally prescribing amphetamines and opioids. In the agreement copy obtained by the Associated Press, Derges says she was not aware of the illegality of her activities and took corrective measures once she was made aware of the situation.
In the settlement, Health Department has but her narcotics license on probation for three years.
Derges faces federal charges that accuse her of filing claims for nearly $900,000 in federal funding for COVID-19 Treatments that were not performed or already had been performed and also accuses her of making false claims about a treatment for COVID-19 containing stem cells.
Derges, who operated Ozark Valley Medical Clinic in Branson as well as in Nixa and Springfield, has pleaded not guilty to those charges.
Derges, a Republican, continues to serve in the Missouri House but was removed from the Party's Caucus and her Committee Assignments when these charges were filed.
