Budget issues continue to impact the Ozark County Sheriff’s Office with the latest results being a round of layoffs.
In a statement released Wednesday, Sheriff Cass Martin said the inflation impact along with lower than projected Sales Tax Revenue in the county, he had no choice but to layoff personnel to try and stay under budget.
Last month, Martin announced a change in patrolling procedure to help curtail cost. He said at that time that one of the biggest issues was the rising fuel prices which was a factor in budget issues.
Martin says in the current statement that he has worked with the County Commission to find alternatives, but this move was needed to stay within budget for this year.
