A goat which has been a fixture around Table Rock Lake for years passes away.
According to a release from the Eureka Springs Safari Park reported by Ozarks First, the 15-year-old feral goat known as Crisco passed away after a possible heat-related distress on Saturday.
Crisco was seen regularly around Backbone Bluff on one of the Arkansas Arms of the lake north of Cricket Creek. The release said the White River Dive Company of Branson and Sea Tow of Hollister recovered Crisco on Sunday a day after boaters saw the goat in distress before falling into the water.
According to a press release from the park, Crisco, who called Backbone Bluff his home, was recovered after an incident near Table Rock Lake on Saturday, July 25.
Crisco was said to have been a familiar sight to thousands over the years at Backbone Bluff, with people stopping to take photos of him, give him treats and make memories while visiting the Ozarks.
The release said Crisco will be remembered in a Celebration of Life Ceremony at a later date.
