The man convicted of killing 10-year-old Hailey Owens will have his appeal heard by the Missouri Supreme Court this week.
For the hearing scheduled in Jefferson City on November 5, 2025, Wood is challenging the denial of his post-conviction motion to have his death sentence overturned.
On Feb. 18, 2014, Craig Wood abducted Hailey Owens in his truck while she was walking home from school. In his basement, Wood raped Hailey and shot her in the back of her head.
Following his conviction in 2017, the jury could not come to a consensus on the proper punishment for Craig Wood after he was convicted of killing Hailey Owens.
