City of Branson Seeking Utility Information in Lucia Ridge Area

The City of Branson has a project underway this week seeking utility information.

The release from the city is below:

The City of Branson Utilities Department has begun outreach in the Lucia Ridge area this week as part of a federally required effort to verify water service line materials throughout the community.

This work is part of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Revised Lead and Copper Rule, which requires public water systems to identify the material of both the City-owned and customer-owned portions of service lines. This process helps create a more complete and accurate inventory while supporting the City’s continued commitment to safe, reliable drinking water.

While the City already has records for many properties, some service line materials still need to be confirmed. Properties built before January 1, 1989, are a focus of this review because older plumbing materials were more likely to include lead.

As part of this effort, City Utilities staff will visit homes and businesses in the Lucia Ridge area to collect the remaining information. Staff members may knock on doors and leave informational door hangers that include a brief form for property owners or occupants to complete.

Residents who receive a door hanger are asked to complete the form and place it back on their door for City staff to collect. Community participation is important and may help reduce the need for additional, more invasive identification methods.

If the information provided does not confirm the service line material, additional investigation may be needed. Residents will be contacted in advance before any further steps are taken.

The City of Branson appreciates the cooperation of Lucia Ridge residents and businesses as staff work to meet federal requirements and maintain accurate records for the community’s water system.
