Katie McVicar received the “You’ve Been Caught Doing Something Good” award on Tuesday.
Branson Mayor Larry Milton presented McVicar with the award during Tuesday night’s Board of Aldermen meeting. “Katie is receiving this award because of her willingness to get involved with a community initiative and her dedication to that initiative. She took it upon herself to find a meeting for the Ozark Mountain Christmas Committee and has thrown herself into the work,” Milton said.
The mayor also said McVicar has “come up with some great ideas that have made a huge impact in furthering this committee's goals.” Milton said McVicar Katie is a great example of a citizen who “took the initiative to get involved and in doing so is making a positive impact in our community.” McVicar spoke after Milton.
McVicar is a former schoolteacher. “I love this community; I love the people in this community,” she said. McVicar said she chose to move to Branson five years ago.
